Giggle Soup
Chapter Book Series
Book 1: Giggle Soup
When 9-year-old Luna and her 6-year-old brother Henry visit their Aunt Trudy, they’re in for a surprise: strange voices are coming from the chimney, saying nonsense. Aunt Trudy groans that she must have an infestation of chimney witches. When she tries to drive away the witches with a broom handle, they snatch her and she disappears up the chimney. Left alone, the children get help from Aunt Trudy’s neighbor, Mrs. Richmond, who says the only way to get rid of chimney witches is by making a pot of giggle soup. The children must make giggle soup—and survive some hilarious soup mishaps—to rescue their beloved Aunt Trudy.
Book 2: Babble Soup
Luna and Henry go next door to help Mrs. Richmond now that the witches have settled in her chimney instead. But the witches won’t fall for the same trick twice. Luna must help Mrs. Richmond first find and then piece together an older, more powerful recipe: babble soup. Only if the children get this soup right can they make the chimney witches give up the secret of how to get them to leave Mrs. Richmond’s chimney.
Book 3: Trouble Soup
After their success with driving out the chimney witches, Luna and Henry’s soups are in demand. Some neighborhood children ask for their help with a very real problem: a missing puppy. While Luna tries to break the news to these new friends that magic won’t bring their dog home, she and Henry discover another worry: the witches now have nowhere to live, and they’re just as sad as the children without their pet. Together, Luna and Henry—with a little extra help from Mrs. Richmond—set out to solve both problems.
